The Stickle Barn

The Sticklebarn is beautifully situated amidst some of the finest mountain scenery in England. It is at the very foot of the famous Langdale Pikes and Dungeon Ghyll waterfalls and seven miles north west of Ambleside. The Sticklebarn is privately owned and is available to the general outdoor public and traveller on foot. The bunkhouse has no common room or self-catering facilities but there is a TV room and meals service provided in the pub. Sorry no pets. A brochure is available on request. Food served. Summer; 12noon to 9.30pm; Winter 12noon to 2.30 and 6pm to 9.30pm. Breakfasts available between 8am and 10.30am weekends, 8.30am and 10.30am during week

Bus service 516 to Great Langdale from Ambleside, ask for New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, walk 5 mins (phone (01946) 632222 for timetable).

Directions

From the A591 Windermere to Keswick road at Ambleside take the A593 turn to Coniston / Torver. After two miles take the B5343 to Great Langdale via Chapel Stile. The Bunkhouse is adjacent to the Sticklebarn Tavern. 

Most hostels are easily accessible by bicycle, with many close to the National Cycle Network. We encourage visitors to use environmentally friendly forms of transport wherever possible.
